Why is my ticket locked?

If you bought a ticket and notice that it is locked for resale, this usually means the event uses SecureSwap by TicketSwap. This system is designed to make reselling tickets safe for both buyers and sellers.

Why is my ticket locked?

Some events enable SecureSwap to prevent tickets from being resold through unsafe channels, to prevent ticket fraud and price gouging. Because of this, the ticket cannot be freely transferred or shared outside the official resale process.

Instead, tickets can only be resold through TicketSwap. This protects everyone involved and helps prevent fraud.

When a ticket is uploaded to TicketSwap, the system checks with WeTicket whether the QR code is valid. Once the ticket is sold, the original QR code is immediately invalidated and a completely new ticket with a new QR code is generated for the new owner.

This process happens almost instantly and guarantees that the new buyer receives a valid ticket.

How can I sell my ticket?

Order confirmation email example

If you can no longer attend the event, you can safely sell your ticket through TicketSwap.

  1. Open your order confirmation email (see image)
  2. Click the button "Sell via TicketSwap"
  3. Log in through the TicketSwap login screen
  4. Select the ticket or tickets you want to sell
  5. Set your selling price within the allowed limits

Once the ticket is sold, TicketSwap automatically handles the transfer.

The buyer will receive a new ticket with a new QR code in their name, and your original ticket will no longer be valid.

Why is this system used?

SecureSwap ensures that:

  • Tickets cannot be duplicated
  • Buyers always receive a valid ticket
  • Fraud and scams are prevented
