Smart Event Manager, usually shortened to SEM, is event management software built by the Dutch company Voorraedt for venues that handle a steady stream of bookings. It covers the whole cycle: the first enquiry, the quotation, the confirmation, the planning of spaces and staff, and finally the invoice.

What it covers

• Relationship management, so every conversation with a client sits in one place
• Quotations, confirmations and invoicing, largely automated
• A planboard for spaces, equipment and staff
• A link between the planboard and your personal calendar, so you do not switch between apps

Who it is for

SEM says it is used by more than 1,000 venues in the Netherlands, among them the Johan Cruijff ArenA, Burgers' Zoo and Oceandiva. It suits venues where events are the core business and the administration around them takes up real time.
